February 2nd is right around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited to kick off ASU’s Open Door festivities at the Polytechnic Campus!

This free event is your chance to experience Arizona State University first hand and see what happens every day at the most innovative university in the nation.

Wondering what to do during your visit? Then check our list below for some ideas:

A Night of “That’s Entertainment!”

Led by faculty member James Barnard, this activity will consist of an open rehearsal for a new comedy/mystery play written by one of our very own Poly students. We will also be premiering a trailer/preview of a feature film being produced and directed by Poly students, staff, and faculty. It will be a wonderful night showcasing the talents of our students!

Life-Size Legos

Come put your building skills to the test by using our Life-Size Legos to build some fun and funky creations! We will have sets of jumbo building blocks available for participants to play around with and show off their unique constructions.

Hovercraft Races

Material will be provided to build your own hovercraft with the assistance of our Arizona State University physics instructors. Test how fast yours will go by racing against other hovercrafts!

Aviation Programs Flight Simulators

Air Powered Paper Rockets

Do you like explosions? So do we, but they won’t let us do that. So let’s launch a rocket! Come see who can build the rocket that will go the highest with nothing but paper and tape.

Minecraft Hour of Code

Join us for the Minecraft Hour of Code using characters and concepts from the Minecraft Video Game. Three different Minecraft coding tutorials are available: Minecraft Code Adventure, Code Designer, and Hero’s Journey. You will be able to code over 10 levels using loops, debugging, and functions. Best of all, you can run your code upon its completion to see how it works! We look forward to seeing you there!

Software Engineering for Intelligent Cars, Robots, and Human-Computer Interaction

Come explore the world of intelligent automotives, human-like robots, and human-computer interaction from a software perspective! Visitors will be treated to a combination of hands-on and virtual programming experiences in these areas. Our work has been featured on Channels 3, 5, and 12 locally in Phoenix. Come see what the car of the future looks like!

ASU’s Polytechnic campus is a research hub in the center of a botanical oasis with desert arboretum spaces dedicated to sustainability and preservation.
