Thermal Image Photo Booth
See yourself in a whole new light! Thermal imaging captures infrared radiation, so the colors in the photo correspond with different temperatures. See if you have a warm heart or cold feet (literally!).

EXTREME WEATHER!
Tornadoes are AWESOME deadly POWERFUL winds. Come hold a tornado in your hands! Talk to weather experts, perform hands-on experiments, and learn about other types of extreme weather with the School of Geographical Sciences & Urban Planning. Fun for all ages!

Messages in a Bottle
The first message in a bottle was used by Greek philosopher, Theophrastus in 310 B.C. to prove that incoming currents from the Atlantic Ocean formed the Mediterranean Ocean. Kids will make their own messages in bottles using some fun craft items and can even send it off into our small ocean!

Walk on Mars! Mars Space Flight Facility
ASU’s THEMIS camera has been taking images of Mars since 2001, and has so far collected over 200,000 infrared images. The Mars Space Flight Facility has taken the best images and blended them together to create a global map of Mars that, when printed at full-resolution, is the size of a basketball court. Come walk across this giant map of Mars with our scientists and explore the Red Planet for yourself!

Glassblower Demonstrations
Christine Roeger (scientific glassware designer and supervisor of the glassblowing facility), will join in the fun with her fire art demonstrations every 30 minutes throughout the evening. She impresses large audiences with her skills, keeping them in awe for hours as she makes barometers in the shape of swans, and teapots, among other catching objects.

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream
Experience the chemistry of yum as you watch ice cream made using liquid nitrogen and other ingredients.
Zone D: Tempe • Biodesign Institute Bldg B (BDB) | First Floor | Atrium
Old Main Photo Booth
Constructed before Arizona achieved statehood, Old Main represents a rich tradition for Arizona State University. The first building on the ASU Tempe campus, Old Main was built in 1898 as part of the Territorial Normal School that eventually would develop into the university we know today. Open Door guests will have the opportunity to take custom photos of ASU and Old Main, that can instantly be shared to their phones and social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). Throughout Open Door, guests are able to view a live online gallery during and post-event.
