7 ways to make a difference during National Volunteer Month

Impact your community by volunteering through Arizona State University

April is National Volunteer Month, and if you’re looking for a place to serve, we’ve found seven great opportunities at ASU.

1. Changemaker Central

Changemaker Central at ASU provides students, faculty and community members with resources and opportunities to engage in community service and enact social change. Use its co-working spaces to organize projects, network or meet with community experts. Students, Changemaker Central can connect you to social and entrepreneurship courses throughout the university. 2. Sparky’s Service Dogs

Open to all students since 2015, Sparky’s Service Dogs at ASU teaches students how to train service dogs. Each dog will go on to help people in their daily lives. See how you can help and find out why this is the best volunteer opportunity for dog lovers!

3. Devils in Disguise

For the past 19 years, Devils in Disguise has been the largest opportunity for student service. Every year since 2000, students at ASU aid more than 50 different Arizona nonprofits at sites hosted by student organizations, to give back to our communities. Learn how to make a difference with Devils in Disguise!

4. Volunteer Match

Open to all students, faculty and staff, Volunteer Match finds the perfect opportunities to fit any schedule. This database allows anyone at ASU to choose the best place for them to get involved, offering tools to track service and set goals. Sign up to learn about volunteer opportunities that best fit you!

5. Project Humanities

With a variety of different positions and volunteer internships, Project Humanities is bringing together students from all walks of life to discuss and learn how the study of humanities, such as art, poetry and music, can connect all of us. Find out how you can contribute.

6. ASU Alumni

ASU alumni can help make a difference in their own community. Every March and April, ASU alumni chapters across the nation schedule community service events to give back in a variety of ways, including packing lunches for the homeless and cleaning up beaches. Find an event near you!

7. ASU Mentor Network

The ASU Mentor Network provides opportunities for students to connect with alumni, staff and faculty to learn tips and skills in areas such as writing, interview etiquette and career planning from people with experience. Become a mentor or mentee and discover how reaching out for help from others, and offering it in return, can create a better, more inclusive university experience.
