ASU Welcome Week 2020 is full of awesome events that you’re going to want to check out! Here are just 10 of these exciting events that you definitely won’t want to miss.

Get ready to experience Sun Devil spirit, pride, and tradition during this high-energy ASU Welcome event for all incoming students on Aug. 18! Join ASU President Michael Crow, Sparky, ASU athletics and current students via Zoom as they introduce you to what it means to be a Sun Devil. This exciting event will officially kick off the 2020–2021 academic year and will be the perfect time to show off your new gold “ASU Sun Devil” T-shirt, which will be handed out on campus Aug. 13–17.

2. Culture Fest Sneak Peek Premiere
Following Sun Devil Welcome is the Culture Fest Sneak Peek Premiere, which will preview the variety of exciting Culture Fest activities planned from Aug. 18 through Sept. 10. Celebrating identity, inclusion and expression, Culture Fest will explore the different elements of culture through showcases of food, music, arts, dialogue and more! 3. Engage!
How do you get involved on the ASU campus? Fire up your laptop for Engage!, the new virtual event that combines the traditional Passport, West Fest, Taylor Fest and Club Hub events into one exciting evening of exploring ASU’s hundreds of clubs and organizations. During this Welcome event on Aug. 19, you can visit virtual booths for each club to ask questions and learn more about them.
Are you interested in finding a job while you’re at school? Be sure to check out the Virtual Job Fair as well.
Unite with like-minded first-year Sun Devils to learn how to make an impact through leadership and service. Sparky’s Day of Service will feature a variety of different activities by campus and academic colleges beginning on Monday, Aug. 17. Students can participate virtually. Join the Residence Hall Association on Aug. 17 for the 21st Annual Summerset Fest. Starting at 8 p.m., the three-hour virtual event livestream will be filled with games, interviews, org/vendor shoutouts and a DJ set. Follow RHA on Instagram for an opportunity to win a free T-shirt, puzzle, DIY craft kit, gift cards from local businesses and so much more leading up to and during the event.

6. InfernoFest
Sun Devils will come together on Aug. 21 for this traditional celebration of music mixed with ASU spirit and pride. Every year, student leaders select a big-name artist to perform in a festival atmosphere during ASU Welcome, and best of all, it’s free for all Sun Devils! This year’s event will be held virtually.

7. Takeover
One of the most exciting ways to kick off your Sun Devil experience and get to know what the ASU Tempe campus has to offer is through Takeover, a longtime Welcome tradition. Get ready to join your fellow classmates for four nights of fun activities, Aug. 13-16, ranging from games to throwback themes to performers. Events will take place virtually and in the Memorial Union on the Tempe campus. Check the ASU Welcome event search for information on the Days 1–4 Takeover activities.

8. Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness: Building Your Community
Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness is bringing fun Welcome Week activities right to your ASU residence hall! Once you get settled in your new campus home, check with your Community Assistant for details on dates and times for this new event, which will take place Aug. 17-23. The fun-filled programs are a great way to meet your new floormates and to begin “building your best you” at ASU.
9. Game Night
When Saturday, Aug. 22 rolls around, you’ll have made it through your first week. So why not kick back with a few hundred of your closest Sun Devil friends for a virtual game night! University Housing invites you to enjoy a little friendly competition and meet other students with games like Bingo, Word Picture, riddles and trivia. You’ll have a chance to win fun giveaways, and to learn about opportunities to get involved with the Residence Hall Association, a student-run organization.

10. First-time incoming student on-campus floor meetings
The first week of living in the residence halls can be super hectic, so to make sure your living situation works out, be sure to attend your floor meetings. These meetings are also a good way to meet new people (you literally live with them!) and to get to know your residence staff. Your RA/CA will be your go-to for many things, so be sure to attend these meetings!

Also make sure to attend your academic college’s virtual Fall Welcome events. These are usually scheduled right before Sun Devil Welcome, and they are super important for learning about your college and meeting fellow students.
