ASU Welcome Week 2021 is here and full of fun and excitement! At ASU West, there are many exciting events you just have to check out. Here are the top 9 you can’t miss!
1. A Golden Tradition
A Golden Tradition is a long-standing tradition at ASU West that welcomes new students into the ASU West community. New students will walk through the Paley Gates, which symbolizes the beginning of their collegiate journey at West.
Students will hear from distinct faculty, staff, and students during this ceremonious event.
2. Solera Experience
No matter what year you are, you definitely won’t want to miss the Solera Experience at West campus!
The Solera Experience at ASU West marks the start of a student’s engagement journey. We welcome all first-year students to join us for our three-day experience (Aug. 14–16) as we engage in group activities, get to know the stories of leadership and upper class students and compete against fellow first-year Sun Devils!
3. Sparky’s Day of Service
Want to get more involved on campus early? Every year, Changemaker Central introduces service to our new students during our Sparky’s Day of Service event.
Changemaker is all about creating social change through civic engagement, entrepreneurship, sustainability and of course, service! Join us on Aug. 15 to participate in a service project to benefit the community!
4. Find My Classes Tours
Nervous about navigating a new campus? Have no fear!
Our ASU Gold Guides are here to take you around campus all throughout Welcome Week to show you where your classes are. Bring a copy of your schedule to find the buildings your classes will take place in.
You will also learn about other must-know spots around campus that you’ll learn to love throughout your time at ASU. You’ll be ready for classes in no time!
5. West Fest & Rock the Rec
West Fest & Rock the Rec have joined together!
West Fest is the opportunity for students to check out all of our student organizations on campus. Groups will be tabling and will have information about how you can get involved.
Formally known as RECIgnite, Rock the Rec is the West Campus’ Sun Devil Fitness Complex Open house and party.

9. First-time incoming student on-campus floor meetings
Your first time living in a residence hall can be crazy! But meeting with your Community Assistant and everyone else on your floor will help you navigate what the next year will look like.
Join the fellow members of your residential community for your mandatory first floor meeting as you learn more about ASU Welcome, your residential community and ways to be successful while at ASU. This will take place on the day your floor moves into your residence hall. There will be floor meetings for both first-year students and upper-division students. See your CA, GLVA or Fellow for more details on the time and location of this meeting.
